RD just needs to go visit the earth now and collect up a bunch of random junk to make planets.

Re: CHEATING IN Battlezone 2
And, as I said on BZU before its death, if you know how to do these weapon exploits (and some posters on this thread sure seem to know), and want them fixed, contact me. Email, PM, irc privmsg, etc all work.

Re: Programming Question
Bzone.exe/bz2edit.exe and the stock mission DLLs are all C++, with a few open source helper libraries in C. See readme13.rtf for a list of those helper libraries with download links. BZ2 now (as of pb6) supports a limited use of Lua as a helper for AIPs, but no stock assets use that. You can downloa...

Re: Mod Installer Template
There's also http://wix.sourceforge.net/ and http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php , which are also free and open source for building installers. That's 3 options for people looking for installers. Just wish that others had taken the time to make a template like this; I shouldn't have to do most of t...

Mod Installer Template
Modern mods need an installer to deal with administrative permissions, setting up shortcuts, etc. See http://matesfamily.org/bz2/BZ2_ModInstallerTemplate_v3.7z for a template for using Inno Setup (free, open source) to create a modern installer. Sample files included. Programmer art also included at...

Re: CHEATING IN Battlezone 2
One thought - before launching a game, BZ2 will note the recycler variant in use. Try using (or insisting on) stock units only when playing with hosts you don't trust. And, people that appear to hate 1.3, you really shouldn't trust them at all.

Avatars & more board styles enabled
I've just enabled avatars (20-128 pixels, max 24576 bytes), and twelve more styles (including three in the red/yellow family) for general use. To change your preferred style, go to 'User Control Panel' -> 'Board Preferences' -> 'My Board Style'. (UPDATE): Disabled the serenity style, as users could ...

Need new rank list
One of the things lost in the board changeover, and I'd like to bring it back, fully. There used to be a rank based on # of posts, sorta like: 0: Scrap 10: Drunken Scav 20: Scav 40: Rattler (more 800: Attilla 1000: Scrap Anyone remember the exact trigger points for the ranks, and their names? Thanks...

Re: Hey everyone check out this cool website.
No, the useless 'u' comes from French, and one of the British public's brief fleeting fascination with being more French. Most Americans don't exactly go for things French. Want proof? Notre Dame. Football. (To loop back to this thread's topic.) How 'mericns say 'Notre Dame' kinda makes Parisian's b...

Re: BZ2 model formats?
To answer the subject topic, BZ2 reads in .x and .xsi (version 1.1, which is ancient) file formats, and caches them in .msh, a proprietary binary file format. There has been a .xsi pack released (google around) for the assets in the original game. 1.3 includes a 'modder data' .7z file with the raw a...

Re: Coop-play mods?
My comments on co-op singleplayer were on BZU (rip). Short summary: I'm not going to do a single bit of work to make co-op singleplayer happen, but if anyone wants to burn their own time, they can go ahead. Long summary: I think co-op singleplayer is a total waste of development time to make a very ...

Re: New Build (2011-02-15)
HDR really requires shader model 2.0 and a floating point gfx buffer. That cuts out everyone who's running on Intel integrated gfx or junky other old cards. There's a LOT of such users in the BZ1/2 community. The latest and greatest may be nice if you're trying to ship a AAA game right now. But, whe...
