You don't have to stop using it just because MS is not going to support it with updates. I still have working systems with Windows 3.11, 95, 98, 98se and many with XP home and pro. They all work just fine.

They'll all work fine...just so long as you don't try and run any newer software on them. 
I have some DOS boxes, Win 98SE, WinXP, even a Win Me one for kicks.

Unless you talk about games that use DX10 or 11, then well.. XP probably won't play them unless said games have DX9 libraries to use. Other than that, most newer applications still work on XP just fine. I haven't quite come across any that wouldn't far as I'm aware.
