I once had 3 dogs (Leonbergers), which I teased by acting as if I ate their snacks, turned up their 'activity' quite a bit ... :)

I was pretty hard on my first phone.... and not all smartphones have gorilla glass (HTC still seems to prefer plastic, for example).
Besides, the coating on the back of the phone alone is worth it - makes it far less slippery.
