isn't this kinda moot after Ken's work?

To properly lambaste this comment in the way due would require more words than the posting limit. Thus, simply, NO.

Or maybe any work on FE after the 1.2 version is moot since the 1.2 version exists and people can just install that. Eh?

using that logic, if someone remade FE and G66 using the battlezone engine, then it would somehow be...better?

oh, i get it; using a completely different engine to do something that already runs better in the original patched engine is better. kinda like using the unreal engine to remake bz2. okay...

You have grossly misunderstood the logic. The point made was of the progression. And be it noted that BZ2's engine is a progression of BZ1's just as 1.3 is a progression from 1.2. I am further disgusted at the flawed logic to make such a hypocritical view work.

RD, its like if a BZ3 would be released and you or somebody else would like to port FE, or even simply BZ2's campaign, to the new and improved engine.

It will never be completelly the same but would probably give you a bit smoother ride with most likelly some extra options at your disposal.

Next to it, some may not have BZ1 and some of those may also not feel comfortable getting it through means that are close to stealing. Now you can play it without actually owning BZ1 or doing things some dont like.

So is this just a remake of BZ1 as a BZ2 mod? Why not just play the normal BZ1?

why have pancakes for breakfast? why have your radio turned to THAT station? why paint your wall THAT color? why play any game at all??? Maybe because you want to, it's fun, refreshing to play it in the bz2 engine, your mom sucks on... er, forget that one... :P

AND, don't forget:

silly rabbit, it is your logic that is flawed - you equate the same mod on the same (patched) engine to working with completely different engines. apples and oranges and all that.

@N1, & RD, take it to another thread please, should you choose to continue arguing reading eachother's posts correctly.

While some may scoff at people who spend many, many hours porting over a game, here it needs to be pointed out that while Ken did patch bz1, he did NOT put in some things that were desired, like dll capability for scripting, any IA mission launching screen, flexible naming, etc., and compared to BZ2, the graphics for BZ1 really do suck, you just can't compare the 2 engines on that level.

So this mod has genuine value for BZ modders and players.

I for one am looking forward to trying it, been toying with BZ2 again recently as prep.

I would agree on the factory weapons mod, though, that is one thing that bz2 got right. I hope that Satellite works like BZ1, though.

thank you; this is the sensible reply i was seeking - not some illogical comparisons...

Look, I am tired of your dismissive attitude. You try your hardest to demean the work of others as improper, irreverent, unneeded, or otherwise unwanted, then when called out on it you attack the person who called you out. Failing that, you take some random unrelated and kind comment by someone else, quote it, call it nice and try to use it in demeaning the person who called you out on it as uncivil and illogical. Do you seriously think that people fall for that?

Trying to sweep bad behavior under the rug is not a solution. You and Avatar worked very hard on this and neither of you deserve to be told there was no point. How about you grow a pair and defend your work?

I didn't see the need to after others pointed out the same things I would have. Working Instant Action, 10 fully working MP game modes, enhancements brought upon by the BZ2 Engine, like voice chat in game, more customizable controls, better graphics engine, etc, etc.

And, my point is, I don't want 2 pages of Arguing going on, possibly driving people away from downloading the mod just because this thread turned into a flabberghaust. Sitting there, watching thread after thread turn into arguing like this one is doing, is what drove some people away from BZ2's community.
