Some very nice looking games, but I seriously don't think MW3 and Halo are exactly the pick of the crop.

MW3 looks like the same game re-invented with a new campaign (surprise surprise, just moer of the same). Halo 4 will more than likely be another overrated generic FPS, and I'd prefer to play section 8 over that. Gears 3 is looking awesome, I've been a huge fan of that series for a few years now, been looking forward to this for a long time. I'm also quite impressed by mass effect 3. Annoying because I just cant get into the first two no matter what I try.

What impressed me the most so far other than new gears footage, is the extra support being added to Kinect and the xbox dashboard in general. The new Ghost Recon with some kinect features is awesome, its definitely a step into the future and some very impressive technology that Kinect sensor.

Nintendo failed to impress me yet again. That company seems to be based too much around their one-hit-wonder Mario and the Wii system to make any progress into the modern gaming industry. If they came up with a new system and released it now that levels up higher than the xbox or ps3 they'd get a little more respect from me. The Wii and Wii U are awful...

Say what you like about consoles/console games, at the end of the day, Microsoft have done everything right about its 360 franchise...

Two words. XBox Live.

Nobody should have to pay for multiplayer and networking - and since it offers nothing that PSN and Steam don't have, those that are stupid enough to fall for the marketing deserve to pay the subscription.

Since I've played BZ(E) for years now totally free, paying to log on to a server seems a very odd idea.

Don't you realise that the very future of the world economy depends almost entirely on peoples willingness to pay for everything that they do! wether it actually costs anything or not. Can you imagine the sort of chaos, liberty and freedom that will emerge if people are permitted to communicate freely, without the need to work long hours at pointless soul destroying drudgery just to pay for it!
My god! you'll be suggesting that mobile phone use should be cheap next! and that this would actually help the economy grow. Its about time the government started monitoring peoples online tranactions and restricting the bandwidth of those who do not spend enough! With the depletion of physical resources becoming ever more evident, it is critical that we develop a proper virtual economy, with proper virtual resources for people to waste their increasingly valueless imaginary wealth on, its the only way to maintain indefinite growth in a finite physical system.

I have a PS3 (go ahead and throw your spears) and I'll admit - I flashed custom firmware. I never went on PSN anyway. Only a few times to purchase DLC for games I haven't touched in years. The benefits of modding my ps3 outweighed never going on PSN again. Having all my games backed up onto the 1TB drive I installed in it (yes, had to do away with the drive caddy altogether) without ever using a disk is nice.

The Playstation Vita looks interesting (hate the name) but dunno if I'd ever get one. I have a hacked PSP, too, and that's kept me busy. (Final Fantasy 1 and 2, Macross Frontier, etc, etc)

I'm going to have to check out more highlights from E3 though.

Never had a console or a handheld. But I did seriously consider a SONY box for Shadow of the Colossus.

Better hope a Sony rep doesn't visit this forum, or they'll sue your ass for all you're worth. ;)

You can pay for it yearly and save a **** load of money, thats what I tend to do. £40 a year also really isn't that much, but its the biggest online network, as far as microsoft are concerned, they have done everything right. It may be a pay-for-full-use service, but they make **** loads of money from it.

Not gonna happen. Modding your PS3 isn't illegal in Canada.

The entire XBox live system is a joke!
All the servers for the games are owned and run by Microsoft. They are un-moderated, badly managed, and an entire game can loose its entire MP ability simply because they felt like it (halo). Computer MP will remain forever the best simply because anyone can run a server, run it good or bad, and KICK AND BAN people who are morons.
XBox live payments are a fee for all so that the latest games can have these un-moderated **** servers.
