We went to our first parade, a small neighborhood one. MiniGSH liked the miniature pony the best. Last year we hosted a grill out at our place but with the new baby the 4th just snuck up on us. So +1 for the parade; -1 in interesting food, beverages and friends.

Oh and the city is on burn ban this year so no fireworks.

Dem burn bans ruining the fun. Then again it did prevent the neighbors from going all out like last year and almost lighting my house on fire, but it also means the firework display at the military base down the road wasn't as spectacular.

Oh, and ditto @ the surprised reactions of most of the previous posters .

went to a lake up here in the mountains, got a good spot, walked down to a bar, got some craft beer, moseyed back up to the spot, fireworks commenced, they reflected in the lake and echoed off the hills, moseyed on home.

Went to the worst parade of my life.

Lady Gaga, soliciting little league teams, Anti-Afghan war people that spoiled the Tea Party float after it, more Lady Gaga, loud(as always)fire engines going off, and a lack of patriotism. I honestly can say I was achamed to be at that parade.

Meanwhile the fireworks were spectacular.,...
