Looks like the rebels finally took Tripoli. What's next? Will they become a true democracy or an African version of Afghanistan?

Who knows what will happen.

The Arab Spring is sweeping across the region and it appears Syria may juuuuust possibly be next. It could be the best thing to happen in the middle east in 80 years. . . or the worst.

We'll be dumping billions into Libya... this isn't over by a long shot.

We do appear to be having a going-out-of-business sale... Or, giveaway, rather.

I would have agreed 100 percent a year ago in regard to the US. However now, with hyper sensitivity to the debt, and us still screwing around in Iraq and Afghanistan, we may let it play out with very little input beyond Hillery and our regional ambassadors throwing around advice.

Any/all reasons for supporting local troops in Libya w/ bombings, etc apply just as much, if not more to Syria. And maybe also Iran.

Doesn't look like Syria is going to go from protest to revolt though, despite being shot at allot. Even less chance of Iran doing so and still even less chance of outside "intervention" working in these cases. Let the Arab spring roll on into a summer, there is a good chance that the self liberated nations of the area will be able to seriously alter the political realities of the region.
