It has everything! It may only be 2d and 2 player but it has just about all the concepts now regularly found in modern mp games.
The megadrive/genisis version is considerably slower than the pc version, this actually made it more playable though.
Didn't like any of its sequels very much though, they tried to change it too much.

I've just recently got back into Bz2, I have 4 different game folders, ( I like to tweak the team colors) and Dark Reign II. I tried to play Heavy Gears II but it refuses to work. Maybe I can actually send out that instant action campaign someday. :o

The Heavy Gear games are good, but they don't behave with W7. Try an XP box.

Heavy Gear II didn't work right 8 years ago for that matter. It wished so hard to be MW. At least the skating was pretty neat, along with (dreadful) space combat.

Uplink.

I thought I had all the needed software and equipment to hack banks (400Gq Processor power, Proxy/Firewall disabler Lv.5's, tons of bounce points) so that I could afford enough to purchase the bypasser softwares but I didnt work quickly enough to delete the logs from the passive traces and my character was busted. Now I have to start from scratch.

I played through R:TW, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Although, my favorite ISO view RTS is still Homeworld II.

Way too easy to be that fun when you replay it, and I just cant stop myself exploiting the AI ....
(Not that that cant be done in RTW, but with higher settings it becomes a bit more of a challenge, a minor one though :))

Like most AI strategy, once you know 'key' to the mission, you can experiment. I loved doing the CPU vs player maps and tweaking the resource multiplier and starting resources. Finding that key on 'expert', took me many, many tries on some maps.

It was sad the multiplay never really kicked in.

That is also why RTW is so fun, no 2 games will ever be very similair. Even if they would apear to develop in such way, by taking some action you can set of a chaineffect that can change the face of the planet. Even if you have extremelly effective armies you'll always run into 'something'. And you can always switch factions if things become too standard playing as Romans.

I like HW2 for the combining of taskforces and defending against several expert opponents, but as soon as I get 20-ish drones out with 3-4 refineries I pretty much own the game. Very nice game but the AI just isnt good enough to really make me come back for more.

Kinda looking for something new though, what other strat games do you play BFT?
