Massive Steam sale going on now...

Advice from past sales: drop by every day. (They update at noon Central/10AM Pacific). If there's a daily sale item you want, grab it. Anything else you want, WAIT until the last day of the sale; they might move it to a daily sale one day.
(UPDATE): There's also
http://www.steamgamesales.com/?sort=savings&order=desc, which allows you to sort the entire list of what's on sale w/o going to Steam's overloaded website, and only able to view 10 entries at a time on Steam's site.

Thanks for the info, I might get TDU2 but I'll need to build a new system to play it.

This is the biggest sale I've seen steam run since I started using it.
Also, there's a sort-of ARG going on in the background. Complete "activities" to get tickets. Every ticket gives you a chance to be one in a hundred who win the top 10 games on your wishlist.
GSH's advice of waiting is sound. Go by that.

In the past ~2 years, I've seen this pattern where Steam has massive sales twice a year. Once is the 7-14 days around Christmas. The other time is about now, lining up with the July 4th holidays here in the USA.
Steam has a whole bunch of Sega Genesis titles on sale. Shouldn't need a new system for that. :p

I got 6 out oft he first 7 tickets and I hope to get that last straggler for Thursday when i get home today.
I put in for the Gold Beat Hazard ship and the Snorkel for Portal 2

The prizes for tickets range from silly game gear, to mission packs (in the case of Defense Grid, DLC that costs $2 total on sale, 4$ normally), or a whole game (only one, button right corner, small one though).
I have my hopes to be 1 of the 100 winners of the grand prize but I like the little nicknacks I am getting for my tickets too.

I take it redeeming smaller prizes does not void the tickets for the final draw?

A ticket spent indeed remains in the total pot.

It's baaaack. Same general advice as in the first post - daily deals are the best promotions. Otherwise, wait until last day of the sale.

The servers seems to be under far heavier load than normal, as both N1 and I have been recieving error messages at beak times for both the UK and US saying that they are overloaded.

I can easilly get on Steam, but the alternative link GSH provided first tells me a script is slowing things down, when I quit it, IE freezes ..

Perhaps, but it hardly ever fails on me. But lets not start that discussion again
Anyway, after going to the site and stop it loading it prevents the script from running and allows me to use it, with IE.
