It is not unprofessional to not be able to host. It is unprofessional for the developers of a game to leave one part of a game to wither while letting another part do its job, and not as well at that.
A feather bat no hand him a good one made from a good hardwood tree. I would guess that money might talk you must remember the game is 11 years old and these guys have worked hard to keep it going for free.

I'm sorry. I got off on a rant because he said that being unable to host was unprofessional.

And? One should have the knowledge of, and control over, one's own internet and computer.

I am a firm believer in computer rights...

You should be able to open desired ports, and put whatever you want on your computer, and thus be able to have unlimited control over that digital kingdom that is your home inside your home.

What I meant was that they didn't have a fast enough connection, like if they lived in the country and used satellite.

'fast' is nothing; it's the ping and packet loss that count. I used to have dial-up, and it did better than what I have now...

Ahhh...The good old days...

When Squirrel stalked me with his 1000 ping, and would enter my games and make an aircraft class fly sideways.

Bad connections are good for testing. It lets us see how things behave under the worst circumstances :)
