the setting you were looking for changed.
heres what you need I used this to make a evil muti turrented guntower
Code: Select all
[CraftClass]
GunTowerProcessCheckCantHit = true // true: retarget if intended victim can't be hit (only if GunTowerProcess is in use)

In page 1, you will see that is already in my ODF.
It doesn't work if the unit can't physically aim at the target.

That only takes effect if hidden behind terrain. A unit not being able to aim down, minpitch, does not count. I bugged that a long time ago.

Progress made.
If a 'turret' class building is tapped inside another building which sits like an inverted flat-top pyramid (so basically sitting in a hole and therefore is underground) it will only shoot at units that are above it and it will retarget properly.
It will still shoot at ground units but only if they are sitting right on top of it.

Clever. The building would only really be a target to aircraft, too.

Explain?
The host building, does it have to be collidable, or just part of the mesh?
And, IIRC, it's basically taking a GT, and putting it inside a hollow upside down pyramid/zigguarat?
Sooo

My initially below ground based GTs happily fire straight through the sides of their bunker and the ground as the animation raises them into position. I wish they would not.

That depends how deep you put the turret object.

No! The hole must be shaped in congruency with the terrain. It needs to be an inverted flat-topped pyramid. No other shape will work unfortunately.
I already tested this with a circular shaped hole.

Is it *only* the eyepoint that must be under the terrain?
Note the image of the gunturret i would need this to work with. guns come out of the ...well, guns....

I guess so. Didn't think of that. Might still be possible to have an AA gun above ground...
