BZ2 Stock Skins

Post by DarkCobra262 »

Greetings,
As you can tell, I am relatively new to the forums, I was searching google and was unable to find any help on getting the Stock BZ2 skins. I noticed the dates on the postings here and they seem of recent, and so, figured this forum is active. Would anyone help me in finding the stock Bz2 skins, or are able to extract them and convert them to a format usable by GIMP (such as .bmp, .jpg, etc.). I have a "BZ2DXTGen_v30.7z" downloaded that supposedly can convert these images to the .BZ2DXT format that is used by Battlezone 2. Thanks in advance.

You will need a program called PAK explorer. Look it up on BZScrap.org.

The stock BZ2 skins are mostly located in data.pak in .tga format. Others in that format are in smtex.pak.

Those versions are low-res though.

I have looked in data.pak and am unable to find them.

They're in .pic and .tga format.

Ah, well what program could open .pic textures?
EDIT - I'm downloading Coral Paintshop Pro trial, I also googled the .pic file format.

Use IrfanView and XNView (both free) for converting between workable formats, and GIMP for editing. No need to waste money on Corel or Adobe products (which normally do exactly the same things anyway)

I have downloaded IrfanView, and downloaded the extra plug-ins, however, it seems that it doesn't have a .pic plug-in, despite me searching the plug-in page for the .pic format. I'm going to try XNView.

Under 'objects', 'ISDF'/'FURY', 'buildings'/'vehicles'.

If you have adobe photoshop, there is a .pic plugin available. Should also be on BZScrap.org.

Yeah sorry for acting like I didn't know that but I did, but you were being helpful nonetheless. I managed to convert the texture using XNView, however, it seemed to have removed the color.
EDIT - nevermind, I just changed the file format in which it was exported, and it fixed it, not sure why exporting it to .bmp removed the color but it did. Thanks all, I extremely appreciate it.

The textures ending in c0 are greyscale, they are used for team colouring.

Didn't end in c0, but either way, I managed to get the skins, thanks again.

I think XNView exports to greyscale-only bitmaps as well as coloured ones, you could have selected the wrong one.

Also, IrfanView opens .pics natively, it just doesn't realise it. Use Open With.

XNView exports just fine for me. It was only IrfanView that seemed to be unable to open .pic files. Anyway, again, thanks all, appreciate the help.
