BZC Loot Question
A while back I thought up an idea for DM game types in BZC, and one of them was the following:
You start off with a Launch Pad behind you and there's several "goal" objects, databases, crates, w/e scattered randomly around the map. Everyone is in a tug, and whoever gets the most relics back to their launch pad wins.
Any thoughts?

Re: BZC Loot Question
No shooting = fail
Maybe with snipable tugs, so its a sort of pilot ctf

Re: BZC Loot Question
Well, idk.
Tugs with guns lol...naw, thats too far.
I'm also thinking of a Strat mode where the goal is to obtain the most scrap. (Like the NSDF mission "United We Fight- United We Die" on Titan)

Re: BZC Loot Question
Pilot/sniper game types are actually quite popular, one where you have an unarmed vehicle would work.
Did you ever finalise the alliance code?
Most? all? Strats end when one team can no longer defend themselves. Nobody want to stand around as a pilot waiting for the other team to get 200 scrap.I'm also thinking of a Strat mode where the goal is to obtain the most scrap.

Re: BZC Loot Question
BZ1/BZC Has a "Player Lives" limit. Defaults to 3, like BZ1, but if it's set to 0, it uses BZ2's "lose recy/fact" condition to lose.
I just coded that strat game type, fairly easy. Should be interesting to try to cripple your enemy's scrap silo's while hoarding scrap. Will make a very intense game type where you have to be very choosy about what you build.

Re: BZC Loot Question
But what stops the normal "destroy everything" dynamic? If you lose your recy, the game is still lost.

Re: BZC Loot Question
No, in BZ1 many players can lose their recy, still have fact, or csnt, and/or even a few tanks. They can kill the enemy's recy too, and end up still killing the player 3 times.
You're not really good at guerrilla warfare are you MTS?

Re: BZC Loot Question
Haven't played bz1 for a long time, too many bz2 strats, too used to not needing to stay alive. I even get suicidal in single player...

I'm remembering that one level to be the most universally hated mission in BZGeneral BlackDragon wrote:Well, idk.

It was just a long fetch quest where every now and then a fury comes around (or 10 in earlier builds of 1.5, hehe) to somewhat disturb your waiting period. How is that scrap utilized in the next mission? It isn't.

It'd be interesting, more gametypes, usually better, different things to do (keeps people occupied and serves a larger fan base)

Re: BZC Loot Question
Well if the tugs are snipable and have better handling (so you can avoid being sniped) then we can make a fight out of that
If they are not, then its going to be a death match with no deaths.

Re: BZC Loot Question
wouldn't most people just get out and snipe each other instead of trying to avoid being sniped o.o? (unless you somehow organized two teams were one would snipe, the other in tugs... and then after everything's over, the team's switch roles and whoever gathers the most scrap/items wins.)MrTwosheds wrote:Well if the tugs are snipable and have better handling (so you can avoid being sniped) then we can make a fight out of that

Re: BZC Loot Question
Sniping would be how you stop the other team capturing items, but once you had one you would have to run to your base in the tug.
Stock tugs would be much too easy to snipe because they are just too slow. If you couldn't snipe them then there would be no other way to stop them, so it would just be a race to get the items, and probably a bit dull.
People already play Dm's like this, just using scouts or turrets as a way to recharge their sniper rifles quickly, they are quiet entertaining.
You could also put neutral non AI gt's or servicebay sniper posts at the base points so players could guard or destroy the items that have been collected.
Destroyed Items would then respawn. So to win a team would need to collect say 4 different items by coordinating defence, collecting, and sniping. A sort of Sniper CTF.
You could even get Imaginative with this, and make the 4 items parts of some Uber skyeye style weapon, that then destroys the other sides base as the game ends

Re: BZC Loot Question
I believe FE had a special deathmatch called 'The Wall', that allowed players to pilot several, fairly weak, utility vehicles. It lent itself rather well to pilot DMs since the vehicles often had some purpose but were not very powerful in and of themselves.
