Weapon Sound Properties/Format?

What's the stats for this? Unless I missed a tutorial or something? I currently am trying a weapon sound at 96000 Hz, 32 Bit, Mono .wav format (PCM Uncompressed) for a machine gun... it is listed as: gchain_T.wav in the odfs for the line "FireSound"
EDIT - I forgot to mention, it doesn't play/can't hear anything... (GBD told me I left that out...)

Not sure about 96000hz.
Most stock sounds are 11,000hz or 22,000hz. I believe bz2 can now cope with 44,000hz (?)
Easy to convert it down to one of these with Audacity and probably the best thing to do.

Ah... I'll try that, does it matter if its mono or stereo?

For most effect sounds Mono is better, as bz2 likes to do the sound "direction" itself.

Anything played in 3D space needs to be mono. Items not in 3D space ('unit lost' voiceovers, for example), can be mono or stereo.

Think of it this way -- what does stereo mean when a weapon fire sound is being generated by a tank to your left? To your right? Behind you? Upside down? Stereo doesn't make sense for a sound being emitted in 3D space. Only those generated on your local craft's radio can be stereo.

Why you've got a sound at 96kHz, I'm not sure. 44.1 is the general standard, not much point using anything above.

The reason I had it so high is because I wasn't sure what all properties the file needed to be...

Some programs have issues where the wrong sample rate causes audio to play back at the wrong speed. BZ2 might do that, it might not, I've not done audio work with it.

Managed to get a pretty decent sound I guess in-game, was at 22050 Hz, 32 bit, mono. (.wav format ofc...)

Fun things

I declare this thread dead and am thus hijacking it.

Here is some stuff you can play with for a few minutes before moving on with your life:

Epic Sax Gun - Collaborative of GBD and Zax. Extract to addon, in editor place apsaxgun.

One Must Fall 2097 reconstructed Rave Sound - Rave sound replacement, extract to addon.

If nobody gets that nostalgic feeling from the latter song, I will be severely disappointed.

about the rave, you gotta make a second rave for the new sound, something this century...

It's a fighting game about robots. It works fine ;)

Also that one was made to override only without bad assets.

I don't think the original Rave sound can ever be topped...

Hell I don't think that as an easter egg it can even be beaten...
