It's also designed to double as a hover-assault, unlike the original. The turret has proper x and y axis.

Looks good from the side. Looks odd from the rear. Just need a high-poly heavy sabre.

That's just the camera angle from above.

That does it more justice, although MAX is fuzzing the texture a bit here.

Forgive my bellyaching but it doesn't really fit in with the original aesthetic appeal that the sabre had, furthermore the design looks more 'feminine' rather than simply taking the slightly more 'organic' tone that sufficiently advanced technology appears to gain through its evolution (which appears to be the goal with the redesign).

Feminine? Really?

I think it looks far better than the original. Perhaps it's my heterosexuality showing through in my work. ;)

The goal of the redesign is to make it more graphically advanced, and improved. I think I've done that.

The HD mod will be changing every element of the game. This isn't Battlezone Classic. I'm not setting out to make it look identical to the original. I'm altering it to my personal taste, and I hope others share it.

The texture is a bit chaotic, and doesn't seem to retain as much reference to it's predecessor as you did with the Thunderbolt. Neither of these observations are necessarily bad though, but just my two cents.

It makes me excited to see your other re-imaginings of the ISDF fleet.

The texture isn't 'chaotic', just highly detailed compared to the original.

I actually never really liked the shape of the original Sabre that much. I always thought it was particularly hideous from the front. I believe I've fixed that with this model. It has a more 'elegant' shape.

That is what I mean when I say that I'm altering the game to my own personal taste.

Now, people might be worried that the game will be unrecognisable. Maybe it will. I'm doing this my way. I'm not going to re-create anything that I think is ugly for the sake of 'tradition', or any reason.

Improved is highly subjective. Whats with those round tail fin things? They look like they belong on a woman's razor, not the mighty sabre.

Maybe I'm not describing it the best way. Its a clear and crisp texture, but I'm talking about how one's eyes move across when you look at it, focal points, lines that move you along the texture naturally. The movement of the piece basically. With that being said it could just be me, I do wear contacts.

Its still impressive you made this so fast.

I'm well aware of that. I'm subjectively saying that it has been improved. Others will subjectively say that is hasn't been. The difference is; I'm making the mod.

The tail guards are a feature of the original Sabre tank, and I made them stand out a bit more as they weren't nearly prominent enough.

Anyway, you'd better prepare yourselves, as I can pretty much guarantee that the 'difference from the original' curve is only going to get steeper as I make more units.

IMO it looks a bit too rounded and sleek.

I'd like to see it with some squadron colours on. Which areas change colour? Is there anywhere earmarked for insignias? Depending on how deep you're going into this, you could get really serious with skin variations. Would add a lot of flavour to the game.
