So I was trying to edit the sabre's texture but it was to small to make somthing of good quality. I Imported the sabre to blender but now I have realized I dont know how to get the same uv cords(I want to edit both sides)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Whenever I edit the Sabre in 3ds max, it keeps it's UV coordinates so I can just drag and drop textures onto it... not sure about Blender though

dunno bout this sabre because I got it from the xsi pack. Those use the textures from the data pak file. From my understanding.

That'd be nice to see, I've never had a problem with upscaled textures in max as long as they stay squared... IE 256x256, 512x512, 1028x1028...

Don't alter the texture on the bottom of the Sabre, its just black and very badly UV mapped, any detail at all will make it look like a mess.

Even if I did edit the bottom I doubt anyone would see it.
I just need to learn how to uv map I guess because Im really confused. I cant just modify the sabres old texture because its too small to make a good quality skin.

Thanks guys

If you are simply upscaling the texture, not physically changing the shape/position of the objects on it, then u don't need to change the uvmapping. UV Mapping coordinates are % floats (0.0 - 1.0) of the x y positions on the texture.

So if I simply upscale then edit it should be fine?

As long as u dont move the pieces and keep the textures inside their edges, yeah.

Sorry for double posting but why do we use 256x256 if these exist?
