Pak Explorer - how much to compress a new pak file?

Post by coxxon »

So I'm working on my mod, and when I put it in a pak file with the default compression, it comes out to 309megs (data.pak is 291megs). Around 90% is the large dxtbz2 image files. Is there any particular danger in using PEX's full compression level?

i'd just use the default; 300 megs is nothing with today's internet speeds.

I remember back when i had satellite, transferring more than 250Mb between a 24hr period would render a throttle slower than dialup speeds for 24hrs from that point. Ugh, it was annoying. Took me months to figure out how to download FE (something like 290megs?)because when the throttle went into effect, the satellite modem would reboot thus, cancelling the download. Would've downloaded from school but my school blocked bzscrap.com.
