Remaining uninspired in regard to the factory, I created a gun tower. What do you think?

While they do look really cool, you should probably not use the same horned head for all of your heavy hitters.

I was just thinking that. I'll work on it.

I quite like it. Adds a little more progression and flow to the race than usual. A little like the Spire's head being used for the Sneed.

Never said I didn't like it. Just a bit more differentiation would be nice.

Here are some alternative styles.

Which one do you prefer. If you like I can take the third horn off of the second version and just have bigger horns of the same style. Also note the subsurface scattering. I can bake it into the textures and thus get the effect in bz2.

It's all looking so good that it makes me feel sorry for you that blender is not going to animate that recycler opening up and let it go into BZ2 unphased. Best of luck if you figure out a way..

I made a factory! It's based off of lilies and orchids and such. What do you think?

I know, I know. The horns again.

Get ready for a large installment of stuff. I made...

An Armory, with a crate for scale.

Image

A snail based Scavenger. I think it needs something but I don't know what. Ideas?

Image

And the corresponding Extractor. The idea is that the bottom part of the scav would slither into the pool leaving the shell sitting on the pool. Then the root-like things would grow up from under the shell.

Image

And a semi-heavy assault unit. I don't know what to call it.

Thoughts? Ideas? What do you think?

I'm really starting to genuinely like these later ones, from about the factory onwards. The only thing that I think would improve the semi-assault unit is maybe to straighten the "guns" and maybe move them in towards the cockpit a bit more. Unless the angle of them is because of the camera position. It looks to me like they're pointing outwards.

I'll check if their straight and if not I'll straighten them. The scav used to have horns but I thought It was a bit too much.

EDIT: They're straight now, but I won't bother posting a render.

I came up with a concept for a weapon called the dandelion bomb. Basically you would build it in your factory, then order it to attack a building or vehicle. It would float until it was directly above the specified vehicle then launch many little bombs shaped like dandelion seeds. It would be destroyed in the process. The stalk from which the seeds are launched could also be dropped as a slightly more powerful bomb, which would do intense damage to the targeted ship, while the seeds would cover an area.

Another concept is like a cruise missile, but shaped like a maple seed, with little wings.

Keep in mind that this race is based on Fairies and not on plants, although the buildings will be largely plant based.
