Modding Tools and Resources

Post by Ded10c »

This thread is for listing useful tools and resources for modders. Little low on time, so just the one for now to get the ball rolling. I'll expand this post later, this is just to reserve the space (we need a topic like this :P)

3dExploration, a useful tool that can view and convert models. Can export to an XSI that BZ2 can use.

xnview, another utility that can view and convert Battlezone 2's .pic texture files.

OvermindDL1's mesh viewer.

Might i suggest uploading the latest version of XnView? Its pretty good actually...

Also, maybe we should expand on the content, there is so much missing. Would be nice to have everything in one place for once...

I'll edit my top post when I've got time, should end up with a nice complete list.

EDIT: Also, if a mod could sticky this, it'd be much appreciated.

The only problem is that that's an old exporter. We need to do something to get OM to update it. When he has less on his plate, of course.

You should try not putting your session id in the URL. :p

And yes, that exporter is old, I was working on a new one that was already working a ton better a while back, wonder where I put it, probably on an old windows partition...

3DS Max Plugins Made By Dummy
A collection of plug-ins made for 3DS Max for BZ2, along with a few BZ1 utilities.
http://dummyworld.net/programs/?category=Battlezone

Photoshop/3DS Max/Windows Texture Tools
For creating .dds volumetric textures for use with local fog and various other things.
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nv_t ... tools.html

Specular Map Generator
This came with another program that I forget the name of, but Ive uploaded this part of it here. This is great for creating specular maps to re-inforce your textures. They can also be used as bump maps to give similar results to current BZ2 buildings.

(Might I suggest updating the OP with a format similar to this?)

Once I get the time, I'll put everything I can find in the OP.

I did run across the program you were on about recently, but I can't find it now either.
