1.5.1 Common Files (updated 2012-08-29)

All-In-One Asset Pack (2012-08-29)
* Some features require 1.5.1.14+
* Includes updated check.odf
* Includes cleaned-up RO content and 1.4, 1.5, and 1.5.1 assets (thanks to Sporkinator)
* Extract to root folder - replaces ZIX and ZFS files
* Allows a clean addon folder
* Full change list and credits in assets.txt

Optional 16-bit Enhanced Texture Pack
* Requires 1.5.1.7 or later
* Work in progress - missing buildings, powerups, props, and the Black Dog faction
* Extract to addon - this allows it to take precedence over RO content

Optional Ogg Vorbis Music Pack (44100 Hz)
* Requires 1.5.1.10 or later
* Extract to addon

Hmmm....

Flash is now more powerful then blast...

Interesting....

Before, Flash had 110 ammo cost and 400 damage per second, == to Blast in terms of damage.

now it's 600 damage a second and ammo cost is 90, :shock:

GTows with infinite ammo of that, will now melt ships alot faster.

Personally, I voice put damage back at 400, and adjust ammo cost to 90. Might be...better.

It does damage faster than Blast but has less than half the range (90 vs. 200) so it fills a different role. The idea was to find a middle ground between the overpowered pre-1.4 version and the underpowered 1.4 version. (The pre-1.4 version used a missile explosion so it did up to 50 more damage per frame.)

It already does what the INF says it does. It's a heat weapon (damageFlame) that does extreme damage (600/sec) at high ammunition cost (90/sec).

I like the idea of the Flash doing more damage. Part of it might be it was broke for a major portion of the life of BZ. But as Ken said, the range is painfully short. It's the kind of weapon you might choose in a very tight canyon environment.

It might have been the strategy guide. I have a copy so I can check.

No, no, and you are gonna kill me since this isn't my bz1 rig so I can't check. It was likely in the briefing/tech info section in the first NSDF Io mission. I believe that was where it was noted.

I knew I saw it somewhere. I dug up my NSDF field guide which is never more than 5 meters away from me wherever I go. Page 49, section Weapons, subsection cannons:
"The Flash Cannon, often referred to as the 'Hot Foot,' fires a concentrated beam of microwave energy at its target. The microwave energy causes the target vehicle's v-thruster engine to overheat."

Maybe my brain filled in the blanks about causing it to not move anymore or shut it down, but it has been like 7 years or so since I last looked at it so give me a break :)

Still think there should be some indication it is overheating the engine, heh.

You can say less-efficient again. 2X Flash might or might not destroy a Lander after a prolonged blast.

i took a look at my manual and and according to it, the beam was (at some developmental stage) supposed to immobilise or slow down the vehicle. it says nothing about "extreme damage at high ammunition cost".
