This build is mostly just a quick fix. The assets and utilities are unchanged from last time.

Downloads:

Testing Executable and Symbols
Updated Assets (updated 2012-07-03)
* Includes cleaned-up RO content and 1.4, 1.5, and 1.5.1 assets (thanks to Sporkinator)
* Packaged as new ZIX and ZFS files to allow a clean addon folder
* Important! Unpack this into the game's install folder instead of addon
MakeZFS and MakeZIX (updated 2012-07-03)
MakeMAP (updated 2012-07-03)

What's New

* Fixed problems when music volume was set to zero
- Music starts playing properly when the volume gets raised
- Release the track properly even if it hasn't started playing

* Fixed ally/unally with teams 9-15

* Fixed strategic AI crashing on some maps (e.g. NSDF mission 2)
- It now adds the default builders (avrecy and svrecy)
- This whole system is really fragile...

* Fixed multiplayer lobby showing negative loss %
- The previous fix affected the pre-game shell

Don't bother trying to download these files and playing on Spock's server anymore. These files install with a different CRC than what is displayed on Spock's site. Spock/Spork has the modified update files under password somewhere on his forum, so if you can't get the CRC modified files, you don't play anymore.

The server owner said several things, too many builds too fast, adding the red odyssey tanks was pushing his luck, they will decide Battlezone's future and what is best for Battlezone. I also suspect it's partly changes Spork made that Spock doesn't agree with so he made his own changes.

I saw a couple posts they had that say models from other games don't belong in Bz.

I think new stuff should not effect any stock files.

Remember 7-30-2012

The day BZ1 died for good.

Wow, I left about two years ago with everybody begging that BZ1 should get updated and I find now people just don't like that the updates are being done. You guys really n need to make up your mind.
[/mild rant]

Sorry all. Mods, if this counts as causing a fight, please correct me. It's not my intention. The intent is just pointing out what 2 years seems to look like.

@Ken,

Thanks for the update!

It seems hard to make any of the BZ1 community happy at this point. All of them have some sort of agenda.

Best solution, import new players somehow. Squeeze out the old ones who can't deal with their own agenda not being the one forwarded.

so one guy runs the only server? something stopping others from making another server?

i vote that ken please replace the client/server code with the bz2 code and ask gamespy to add some matchmaking.

What happened?

@RD: There are 4 servers up last I checked. Spock hosts a "BZ1 installer" that has a 'ready only' server file that only lists HIS server (and the long dead original activision ones), essentially making people who download his installer only be able to play on his server.

Not exactly, Two guys own servers, Eddy owns two servers 911.net/.com and Harrison owns bz1.net/.com (same IP two domains), Eddy has run his server since before Activision shut down their servers. Harrison started his to control the game, forum, and players, they ran off the older players except for those remaining on 911, they remade Bz with people willing to follow them.

We already asked Ken for gamespy because it would solve the problems and keep Bz going after anet fails to work on linux some day.

Gamespy is a good idea, since [EDITED DUE TO LANGUAGE - GSH] can't control them = its good enough for bz and its open for Everyone who whats to play and have fun.

My guess is it would be way more work than it it is worth for Ken. GSH had a heck of a time updating gamespy for bz2, which already had gamespy to begin with.

Lol, I provided the 911 servers in my mod, so he had a crying fit and banned me. Was pretty amusing.

Heh, spock is a funny guy.

I play BZ atleast once a week on his server, but if he found out who I was he'd ban me in a second.
