I am of the opinion that all of the units were all pretty much designed with the single player missions in mind alone, and the scions were very much designed as the opponent.
I think some very minor adjustments to the sentry's speed, turning and jump (combat mode) could seriously improve its usefulness as a dogfighter. Good idea with the image signature too Apc.
As for the Lancer, improved handling could only be welcomed and we already know multilock is useless unless your enemy is kind enough to stay still for you while you lock on, even with that altered its still on a ship that cannot aim quick enough to fire it.
As for wasps, I have been using them allot in game recently, as research and for a laugh, they are mostly a total waste of time and scrap, you need at least 6 of them before you can even start to hit anything in a defended base, and they run out of ammo within 30 seconds. They are not even very effective as a suicide vehicle, as the wasps are so slow to launch and die so easily.

for an easy way to see what Sentries and Lancers would be like using improved weapons, load up a G66 MPI, select Scion as the opponent, and Advanced Weapons. the mpi dll will hand out random weapons to them (and other ships) as they are built.

Well it doesnt seem like multilock was given much thought to begin with (cool concept, poor execution). For example, due to LoseAngle it's quite easy to build up locks and then lose them all at once meaning the most effective way to use multilock is to simply single lock it almost all of the time since you run no risk of losing multiple locks and theres no penalty for doing so. Furthermore, multilock does less damage than Shadowers and is in fact negated completely by VIR due to the fact that its an image locking missile.
The sentry could perhaps use some slight tweaking to its image sig and strafe speed provided that its ability to counter-strafe isnt affected too much by the handling changes introduced in 1.3 (where velocThrust reduces strafing acceleration).
I havent tried out the latest 1.3 betas, but I assume that the proposed WASP and Comet changes never made it in?

No wasp and comet are still as they were. The lancer is simply not really agile enough to get a lock on a fast moving unit like a scout.

That's what Stingers are supposed to be good for. If I'm not mistaken ISDF Scouts can still actually outrun them. Not dodge, outrun.
