I wasn't thinking of going to the level of detail such as responding to weapon selections. The weapon upgrades happen if the ai can get there, the switching aips would just give it alternative attack/defence/resource use plans, and the conditions for switching do not have to be particularly logical. The cheat style approach I have taken so far is that they only do it when they need to, eg new aip loads, only got 2 pools? then they build an extractor building!, which allows the players to de-cheat them by destroying it, it also punishes them for being greedy, if you take most the pools at the start, the game becomes allot harder.
