Does turning Vsync off increase performance in game?

Re: VSync On/OFF
It would increase the potential framerate, but result in some annoying tearing on the screen.

For me, with vsync on, the mouse moves quite different, very sluggish. Does noone observe this? This is the only reason I use vsync off.

Yeah. I had the same problem with delayed controls/responsiveness. I turned triplebuffer and vsync off. Any tearing is preferable to having sluggish controls especially in strat.

Ah, that's the problem. Thanks, ZA.

Have to have vsync on. Tearing is too annoying for me.

Does having Vsync off change the graphic settings while playing, when ever I try recording, everything goes low res and props disappear as if i had everything set on low.
Re: VSync On/OFF
If I remember right, that's due to the engine automatically disabling graphics options when the framerate gets too low, and FPS is something recording programs LOVE to sap if you don't have a strong computer.Dataanti wrote:Does having Vsync off change the graphic settings while playing, when ever I try recording, everything goes low res and props disappear as if i had everything set on low.
What I do not remember, though, is whether or not that was Multiplayer only.

Go into the preference files and notice the bit about what needs to be cut when FPS goes below x. Set it all to not be turned off and see if you can comfortably keep all graphics up with 5 FPSDataanti wrote:Does having Vsync off change the graphic settings while playing, when ever I try recording, everything goes low res and props disappear as if i had everything set on low.

Really? My laptop doesn't break a sweat 1076x768 recording.
Then again, I am still biased against laptops and refuse to see the advances they've gotten over the years.
