I didn't say their norms and values were ridiculous, mostly they pretty much the same as each other. [joke] The only clue in the plot line is near the end of the Scion story and if I had to guess at which sect,I would say "Jehovah's witnesses" [/joke]
Its a really bad Idea to get me started on this. Ill stop.
The Silence continues. The War Of Lies has no end.
Scions must be the most united people in the universe if that were true. Racism, slander, and Social Darwinism must not be existent, as they can look into each other's mind.
Right so the "collective" was just the name of their union and they still use radios, despite having been fused with a semi sentient device building nano technology...Its just the logical conclusion, that they would have inbuilt phones/network (free to use!) and that it is this that binds them into their" collective", It does not mean they can read each others minds, but it would make data processing and communications far more efficient, particularly once you factor in the planet sized machine Core, which could always just have been a very fancy car wash of course.
The Silence continues. The War Of Lies has no end.
The documentation uses both the words convergence and collective, but there is nothing to suggest it is anything more than a name. Telepathic communication, at a push, maybe. But reading each others' minds? I wouldn't go near that with a barge-pole.
Not quite sure what you mean by "a semi-sentient device building nano technology" unless you mean biometal. I assume you do.
Remember that Core planets are unrelated to the Scions, they're part of something else. The Scions only use Core to allow them to perform biometal dialysis. So a fancy car wash is actually a pretty good analogy.
I must point out, that the only "documentation" I take any notice of are called Battlezone1 and Battlezone2. Anything else is fan fiction and thus simply someone else's opinion. Yes I read a lot into the story that is not said, and make assumptions based on a long history of reading scifi. I assume they have advanced communications technology, just as we do not have to shovel coal into our pc's to make them work, as a Victorian might have assumed we would.
It is firmly established in bz1 that biometal can become semi sentient (furies) and it is obviously a nano technology, in the same way that we are.
Wether or not the Scions control Core or it them or indeed another party is never made clear.
It is clear that they develop some sort of dependency on it and "the thin thread" that connects them all.

The way the phrase was worded seemed a little confusing. I therefore took the liberty of assuming you meant biometal, which fortunately was correct.
However, you are claiming I am extrapolating things from the story that are not really there, when everything in my post above is taken from BZ2 alone. Nowhere was it even implied that the Scions were telepathic, this is an assumption you are making based on the name they gave themselves. Calling something a collective does not mean it behaves collectively.
However, BZ2 makes it quite clear that the Scions did not build Core, that the Scions were made by Dr. Braddock of the NSDF long before the Dark Planet and Mire system had even been discovered, and that proximity to a Core planet keeps the Scion form stable.
There are plot holes everywhere in this game, and many people walk straight into them. The biggest of these (and I think you just fell down the latter) are that the Scions are not Furies and that there are two Cores.
It is you seeing things that are not there, not me.
It is you seeing things that are not there, not me.
Simply making logical deductions from scant evidence. I did not say they were telepathic, simply that they have a powerful advanced form of communication and that it is what forms the basis of the collective.
I did not say the scions were furies, Furies are Biometal in one of its natural uncontrolled states.

...if you're going to make an assumption like that form just a name, then please don't jump down my neck for pointing out established facts from the game's story.
I think while we can hypothesize the Scions may be telepathic, we can only infer it. The only peice of credible evidence I can think of is that it is reported in one of teh earlier debreifings that they seem to be able to communicate very well and move as a well and organically.
My 2 1/2 cents.

Hello everyone. Yes, it's been almost a year since I've made any mention of the story, but I was sidetracked by a great numerous number of projects. . The story, WITHOUT FAIL, should be available next week. In the meantime, does anyone know a good place to publicly post documents? I'm planning on uploading in a PDF format.
