QF2 also continues the story of FS3 so that the Phaer-Rhan and Black-Dogs effectively take control of the Earth after they rebel at Nemesis (this isn't actually seen in QF2, but it's in briefings). They remove President Hardin and install a military government.
That doesn't really seem like them... The PR are in search of a home, not rock the boaters aside from their racism, and the Black-Dogs are separatists from society at this point. It would require some pretty fancy twists to make that work with that in mind.

I thought the whole thing with the QF was they left Earth-gov's influence forever. Sounds like they still have boots on Earth to give reports.

I am far from opposed to a coop taking power, but I can't see it working out that way [you describe]. The EDF is very powerful, the squadrons alone are weaker. Near Earth, the seat of EDF power, the most loyal and strongest forces would exist. Basically, the Black Dogs wouldn't stand a chance and the PR wouldn't risk being throw out of their new home on Earth. I feel more like a dystopian military control by the EDF is more likely, the ones that made the asinine decisions at the end of FS3's story. The Black Dogs are more likely to be struggling against that.

I didn't say that the coup would last for long. The EDF were still pretty powerful, but they had been drained heavily by the war with the Swarm.

The Phaer-Rhan had a hidden agenda from day one. That's how I see it. They always wanted control of the Earth. They may have presented themselves as refugees at the start, but they were always imperial minded. Their 'racism' is incredibly strong. They absolutely hate Scions to the point where they are very eager to totally exterminate them. The EDF-Scion alliance is one of the main reasons that the Phaer-Rhan turn against the EDF.

The Black-dogs are just coopted by the Phaer-Rhan into submission. Also, you've gotta not think of the races as entire units. Saying that the 'Phaer-Rhan' wanted to rule the Earth might only mean that their leaders did. There are factions within factions. Perhaps the majority of the Phaer-Rhan were simply refugees.

Yeah, the QF didn't have any presence on Earth. They were all at Akaifa. That doesn't mean that they wont 'meet' again later.

But relations between the humans and scions are very strained and they can barely be consider in alliance after FE even by FS2.

I'm pretty sure that some military ties were still strong. In FS2, the Ravens and Scions were working together pretty closely. That doesn't mean that there weren't tensions between EDF regulars and Scions.

I can certainly see the Phaer Rhan having an ulterior motive. Can I ask someone moderate this so it doesn't ruin someone's big twist? I'd love to discuss it, but not in public :P
