Soundtrack re-orchestration

Post by Ded10c »

Something I started doing at N1's suggestion... months ago, now. I started, then never managed to find the time to finish. I've started working on it again now, so I think I might show you.

That's what I have so far - created by ear, listening to the original and picking out the parts. Given enough time, I should be able to produce much more than just the first part of the first track done.

It's also a temporary mix, so it sounds horrible.

? Noticed somewhere else that people said they dont have the intro track...
On the dl of the Bz2 music I made there is most definatly INTRO.mp3 (maybe I recorded it and added it :) )
Which is the first track minus voice overs and effects. Which is what you appear to be trying to achive here.
Yes I have it!
It can be found here under projects battlezone2 main title sequence.

Pretty good, yet it misses something...
2Sheds is correct though, the intro is in the mp3 download (which feels more 'intense' than your version does).

That would be "the rest of it". This isn't finished, not by a long shot. I don't write linearly either, which is why it isn't as full.

It's good, but I think the thing that is missing is the intensity. Add in a little echo and more legato. If you look at the audio waves graphic on the website, notice how there are places where a sound just suddenly begins. It should have a slight bit of fade-in, which will add more intensity (:05, :21, :40, specifically).

Timpani or bass drum roll would be neat from :05 - :13 or longer, and definitely an accented timpani roll at :18 followed by intense crecendo into :21.

Just some ideas :)

...MORE PERCUSSION.

Like I said, this is still a very rough mix and all I'm doing right now is putting the notes down; I'll get to articulation and mixing/mastering later. Thanks for the timpani tip, though, I'll see how that sounds.

Entirely done in Cubase 4, used Edirol Orchestral to get a decent orchestra sound.

Interesting...

I like the track. Sounds a bit star-trekky though. :)
