Would like to encourage you all to join this Steam group. Despite the name, it holds no relation to the old forum and was started between two members of the Bionite team.

With luck we can bring everything together there and keep everybody updated from one place.

I'm part of it as well as the Official Battlezone Group.

I'd avoid that one; you can probably guess whose it is.

They kicked me out of that group because I stopped them from spamming their website on ModDB by reporting the action resulting in a user ban. They use that group to trick unsuspecting people into downloading their full installer for BZ1 1.5, which is locked to their server, where they can ban whoever they want. If they had my IP, for example, they could prevent me from playing with anyone else on that specific version, which as they are using that group to contact people, would be a lot of people.

That is why you should not be in that group. But before you leave, if you want to, do me a favor and invite everyone from that group into mine, aside from General Error/Spork, and the 3 leaders. They have been joining the chat of the new group and saying random things, then leaving, trying to irk me. I figure now is a great time to smash their control on BZ1 and try to get a legal means of distribution for the game. DX/Apollo refuses to allow anyone to point directly to his BzE mod and requires people to register for his board and post 3 times to find the download, but never notes this in any public page. This is similarly exploitative to how Spock handles things, making it so that to get it, you have to make it look like his site is more active than 5 lonely people.

Basically, this is our chance to resolve the issues plaguing the BZ1 community and revitalize it. We may even be able to do the same to the BZ2 player base and get enough players to prevent the stupid Vets vs Everyone Else wars.

Yes, they have used that technique now for about the last 4 or so years. The lack of confidence and blatant insecurity is made about as clear as you're likely to find in an online game.

I still vote Ken makes BZ1 use an online matchmaking server finder, like gamespy. So nobody can "hide" other people's servers.

Actually phpBB changed how their forum works i don't like it either. I don't care if anyone direct links to it, i'm just not doing it myslf. Can't have a link to the Bz Club forum anywhere if it was directly accessing downloads, you know that.

Even if i set it to 1 post you still have to make 2 posts to see the rest of the forums, phpBB made it work this way, i liked it the way it used to be.

Also Bz 1.5 needs a mod installer to make it easy, Ken hasn't done this yet.

Meh. The whole BZ1 war going on I try to stay out of. I prefer BZ1.5 to BZE, so that's what I use. But I try to stay away from the whole thing. I'm not really on anyone's side.

Just played 1.5, it's not like the retail game, first things i notice, it's jumpy, the mouse is twitchy and the game does not play smoothly, also the players there have no honor, they spawn pilots with blast etc.. with every chance they get, they even shoot white tanks.

Another thing is having unbalanced Chinese tanks on stock Bz maps further ruins the game. But this is just my opinion, try it and form your own.

Well, gentleman's rules (honor as you put it) have to be agreed on. Blast on pilots sound like an exploit problem, but people have been doing that in games for years.

He doesn't mean they spawn in pilots that are equipped with Blast. He means they sit there in tanks and use blast on spawning players.

In BZ1 some people think using Blast is a cheap trick.

They will attack any respawning pilot with any weapon, this is no skill dishonorable play. Example, a walker destroys your tank then shoots your pilot out of the air or if you hit the ground, someone destroys your white tank.

These are reasons players quit the game.

And it's a bigger problem for another reason, unless the more skilled player simply gives in to the cheap play and takes it.

Meaning, when that sort of sportsmanship is used on me, and I then give back the same, usually with much more effect, the other player generally THEN gets upset and leaves.
