Support for Linux?

Post by k00kev2 »

Specifically Ubuntu - as that's my (other) OS, but Linux in general, really.

Is it possible? Has anyone tried? Shall I pioneer?
Curiosity - more than anything else.

I don't know exactly how to go about doing so though.
I guess just trying to install it on my other computer...

Some people have managed to use 'Wine' to run Windows executables like bzone.exe under other operating systems. I've never bothered. But, that's where you should start.

It is possible. You need to install the dependencies that the 1.3 patch comes with (directx, visual C++, etc); you may also need to set a DLL override (in winecfg) where 'dbghelp' is set to (native, builtin). There are some fullscreening issues on some compositing window managers (a rude hack is to prevent the window manager from managing windows, but try to avoid it unless you cant play BZ2 due to fullscreening issues), if you can properly deal with those than BZ2 should run at a lower (than windows) but playable framerate at least on nvidia cards (havent tried ati/catalyst or any of the other lesser supported graphics cards like intel or SiS).
Regulators
Regulate any stealin' of this biometal pool, we're damn good, too
But you can't be any geek off the street
Gotta be handy with the chains if you know what I mean

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into working it out.
