New here...

Post by Vadam930 »

It's been a very long time since I last played BZ2, and it seems much has changed.

For one, the fact that there's still an active community here amazes me! Is this the only active site left?

The next thing is, I tried to install BZ2 on my Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) partition, but ran into some trouble:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Now, I spoke to this guy a while back, and he said that he had BZ2 running just fine on W7 x64. I got the message above from inserting my original disc, and simply trying to run setup.exe. I honestly thought it would work.

My guess is there are some patches to download, but I have no clue what works, what doesn't, what's safe, and what isn't.

Basically, all I need to know is if I can get it to work on W7 x64. If someone could help point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Matt

try running the setup in 32bit compatability mode?

run as administrator?

IDk, I remember installing BZ2 on a friend's 7 64bit with no problems...

Thanks for the response.

Looks like the wrong "setup.exe" was showing up by default. The one in the "Setup" folder worked.

Now all I need is the right patches. What do you guys use these days?

Thanks,

I'm only looking for mainstream/popular patches. Stuff that everyone's using.

In that case, hold on a few days. The latest patch that has come out has been reported to be filled with a few bugs, so be best until it all gets sorted out before download.

I'm not sure 1.1, 1.2 patches are prerequisites for 1.3.
I suggest to go with 1.3, then update it with 1.3 pb 6.
i have tried with 1.3.6.1, and i was unable to create/join with MP-ST, which i need to more investigate if it is specific issue for my self.
(Coz i have some customized setup in my pc)

None of the patches are required to update to the latest PB. You can install a 1.3 PB6.1 patch straight over a 1.0 directory, or 1.2, or even 1.3 PB3. They're full patches, not incremental.

If you want to play stock in MP, don't modify, or keep an original copy of, the bzone.cfg file ;)

No, don't do that. All public patches need to be installed on top of 1.01b - an untouched CD install.

i downloaded 1.3.6 first thing. i dont really think i experienced problems, so my advice is to just plain download the 1.3.6.1, and if possible, 1.3.6, because 6.1 isnt that great (unless you wanna play MPIs)

Sounds like the easiest option.

Where do I download these? Are they hosted here?

Thanks, guys!

I installed 3.6.

I remember using a Forgotten Enemies addon at some stage a few years ago... is that still going? What's the newest version/how do I install it?
