First mission of the game doesn't force you to listen to Shabayev. You can attack and kill the guardian as soon as you see it, against her orders.

Yeah, that guardian has been buggered all in 1.3 for a while....

Shabyev/Lt whateverhisnameis are supposed to WAIT until the guardian starts SHOOTING before THEY SHOOT it.

That would be Simms. And if I remember correctly, most of that mission is screwed over. There's a path Shabayev is meant to follow at some point that she completely ignores.

Answer: they didn't have enough $ in the sound budget to hire Steve Blum again.

I guess he was one of those Bradock found expendable, I expect you actually kill him yourself in A Traitors Fate...

And thus, the only VAs left for bz2 were wooden, hollow husks sucking the life out of every scene. RD, make *Shoot Shabayev* a victory condition when she is hurt and needs help.

He stayed behind at Cerberus base when you went to the Dark Planet, I believe.

1st mission plays okay. if i head straight for the retreating guardian and kill it, i get a red/failed objective, then it carries on.
