Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
!!!THIS COULD DISABLE SOME DEVICES LIKE REMOTE CONTROLS!!!
For a long time I have had a problem with keys like ~ + " < > ( ) not working in Battlezone II, and a few other games. I recently stumbled upon a solution to it by uninstall/disabling some drivers (Don't worry if it has a un-desired effect you can always undo it). For this guide you will need administration privileges. This guide is also mainly for W7, Vista should be generally the same.
1. Open you start menu and select "Control Panel".
2. Click "Keyboard".
3. Open "The Hardware" Tab.
4. Select one of "Microsoft eHome Remote Control Keyboard keys, Microsoft eHome MCIR Keyboard, Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard". For each Microsoft eHome selection, click the "Properties" button. Open the "Driver" tab and click the "Uninstall" Button. It will give you a prompt, say "Yes".
5. Exit out of the keyboard option and navigate back to the "Control Panel".
6. Click "Administrative Tools".
7. Double click "Computer Management".
8. Open "Device Manager".
9. Open the "Human Interface Devices" drop down.
10. Right click on "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" and select "Properties".
11. Open the "Drivers" tab.
12. Select "Disable" (!!!DO NOT UNINSTALL!!!).
13. Restart your computer.
There you go, now you can play and use all of your keys.
If you want to undo this repeat steps 1,6-11 And Select Enable. Then restart your computer. This should re-install the keyboard drivers uninstalled previously.

For those that read readme13.rtf, there's already links to far more comments. Stop trying to hog the spotlight for fixes you didn't author.

I had no idea it was in the readme.... And a lot of people go looking online for solutions first, and I'm not hogging the spot light and I didn't say I was the author, I found out how to do this using a few different sites and I made it all fit together. I'm sure there was others before me that found out how to fix it, I'm just simply making a guide for those who are looking for a solution here.GSH wrote:For those that read readme13.rtf, there's already links to far more comments. It's called a readme for a reason. You're supposed to read it.

Re: Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
When people install the game they don't normally go looking into the game folder right after install, they normally start playing. Also this fix is for 1.2, 1.1, ext and any other game that has the problem, the readme file in earlier versions of the game might not have it, then those people have to look for help online. Also this is in the wrong forum... it should be in general discussion, I made a mistake.AHadley wrote:It's called a readme for a reason. You're supposed to read it.
If you have a problem with this thread then don't post in it, leave the posting for the people asking questions and are using the fix, it is for them after all.
Also don't vote unless you used the fix >.> that makes the poll useless, of course it wouldn't be helpful if you don't have the problem.
Re: Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
If people are having problems with 1.1 and 1.2 they know about them already.
Re: Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
And they know where to go for a fix
People should read readmes. It's what prevents asking stupid questions about things they should already know

Not everyone is computer savvy and would even think to look for a readme.AHadley wrote:And they know where to go for a fix

I give up, people who search here will find this thread and use it if they want, as for the people who don't need and and want to talk about readme files don't post, it's not for you.
Re: Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
The vast majority of BZ2 players are tech savvy, hence why we still play it. For those who aren't, they won't be vocal about any problems they are having anyway.
Re: Battlezone II Key Board Key Problems Fix Guide
Also, the poll makes it obvious you did this just to get some form of 'credit'.

The poll is there so I know how much people I helped, I like helping people... >.> for the most part. and if someone says no then I would try to look for another solution to there problem like how I had bluetooth not letting me press the F9 and F10 keys, it tuns out those keys were hotkeys for turning bluetooth on and off.Nielk1 wrote:Also, the pole makes it obvious you did this just to get some form of 'credit'.
