BZ2 Sounds

Post by gonzo27 »

Hi Everybody,

I am running the BZ2 1.3 Public Beta and am needing some help with sound files.
I know that sounds can be altered and placed in the addon folder to be heard in
the game. I also am aware that with the this version of the game the folder is called
'addon_2012-04-15_1650'. What I don't know is the name of the file that sounds when
a fellow AI unit gets attacked. Reason being, it aggravates me a bit and I'd like to either
make it quiter or change it altogether. I know it's not '!!warn01b.wav', because I've
placed a file with that name in the folder and the allied unit being attacked sound remained
the same. I tried renaming it without the eclamation points as well with no effect. Can
anyone help me with this please?

addon_2012-04-15_1650 is *not* the addon folder.

It is a backup of the old addon folder made when you installed 1.3. The date attached is when you installed that patch. This is done in case of modders with assets in the addon folder.

'addon' is the correct folder.

Use Pak Explorer to look in the data.pak and patch13.pak files to see what filenames to use for the sound effects and to extract the originals so that you might edit them or better identify them.

Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

And remember, don't edit the pak files, though since you are working with addon I figure you knew this already. :)
