Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
i think the main objective of the mission is for Braddock to find and destroy the transmitter so that his link to creating the Scions from the Black Dogs is not revealed. getting Cooke back, meh. notice he bombs the transmitter and leaves the Scion base untouched.
the main problem comes if you go through the tunnel before destroying the matriarch. i'll add some stuff to prevent that.

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
The whole end-mission revolves around the idea that you -can not- return to base. In order to keep the mission original that, imo, has to stay that way.
The core of the mission revolves around finding some beacon .. telling you a bit about the [spoiler]. Getting there could be made interesting and I'd leave this as is.
The start of the mission revolves around being surprised and having to face an overwelming force .. this part fails pretty much. Allthough being faced with overwelming odds, I never failed to take down the recy, may have lost my ship on some occasions, may even have died myself, but the recy goes down.
If possible I would probably start this mission by telling you to get a P-gen, factory and relaybunker up. Than order to build turrets, and shortly after that you're told that a mobile recy has been spotted .. paint tunnel entrance .. giving you just enough time to get 4 rats placed (now it allows players to 'sandbox' what and how they build reinforcements). Adjust enemy force based on difficulty, but strong enough so an average player (on its respective gamedifficulty) has a decent chance failing at destroying the recy. Which opens a whole book of possibilities if the enemy recy is able to deploy.
I would not keep seriously hampering a player who's made it to the stage that the tunnel collapes, just get the dust off nav-stuff done and bring in the transport.

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
My point is, is that there is virtually no mission if you do it that way, You literally only have to build what I said, you have to fight the convoy, maybe a couple of spawned units, drive to the sensor and back and its over. I recall this being a fairly epic battle the first time I ever played it...

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
I just played it again, didn't kill scion rec, it deployed, built 2 scavs and nothing else at all, something got stuck.
Bradock tells you to build a bomber in your bomber bay, but that isdf recy cannot build training, tech or bomberbay.

Please don't change the damn missions, just make them work.

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
GSH released the code so anyone can fix them to work as they did or change them to their liking. RD can modify and release the missions as he sees fit. I don't plan on playing SP anytime soon so it doesn't matter to me if RD changes them or just fixes them.

Yes, but for inclusion in 1.3, he shouldn't go changing stuff.
Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
What about a downloadable single-player enhancement that is separate from stock?

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
I've always wondered why it appeared that Braddock was saying "Why don't you build a bomber in your bomber bay..."
when I couldn't get back to base, and if I did there wasn't a way to do it. The bomber has always just showed up out of nowhere. If I remember correctly in 1.2 if you did not kill the enemy matriarch before it deployed then it would start to build base, but never get very far before the mission ended as a failure. Also in 1.2 if you were stuck on the antennae side of the bridge then the Scions have a full base in the distance. You had to drive by it to get to the dropship, and a few warriors would always harrass you while trying to get there.
It would be nice if the only way you could fail this mission is to die. If the Matriarch deployed and gave a fight to you and your base that won't build a bomber, that would be an interesting fight.
Really the only broken thing for me right now is when it is time for you to go through the tunnel there is no verbal or chat warning. You have to open the chat window to see that you've been asked to go through. Can we just re-instate that verbal warning or at least make the chat window come up on it's own to tell you what to do?

Re: Snow Blind SP Mission
as with the other missions, it looks like it was in the midst of developing when the plug was pulled and it was unceremoniously kicked out the door to fend for itself. lines that set AIP's and voiceovers are commented out, so (now that i am back home again) i can work on it some more.
if anyone spots anything in the other missions that is kerflooey, please post about them.
