When posting an error, you need to use the full editor and click "Code." This will pop up. <> Then copy/paste IN BETWEEN THE TWO CODE BLOCKS.

This will allow the experts to quickly examine the code without too much difficulty.

Re: README: Submitting logs of game problems

Post by Cliffhangr13 »

This is happening now that I've installed and migrated my custom map to a new machine the error only seems to occur on my work in progress map I have it now as an instant action and the game hangs for a few long minutes while its loading the mission dll (but I didn't create a mission.dll yet for it either never needed to doesn't it use a default if none present?) ..I admit I'm rusty again and not sure if I'm loading the unfinished map correctly or how I used to do it in the not so distant past..in fact I can;t find the manual I've used to even use the editor in the first place..didn't the game come with a manual for the editor I find it hard to believe I went online for that info in the beginning..sorry if I'm not submitting the log completely enough but its 5 am here I'm on my 2-3rd wind, I don't have the program configured to do what you suggested yet, and I'm sure its something simple like misplaced folder/file or something or its a corrupt bzn (I was last adding some of those really buggy and treacherous non isdf tunnels to the map that liked to crash my game if put in the wrong places...using them as teleportals  ) anyway here goes any ideas how to fix is there a bzned type program for bz2 I should be downloading? :?

It sounds like you'd probably need to .zip and email me the map files to see if it's recoverable in the debugger. In the short term, if you launch bzone.exe/bz2edit.exe with /nobodyhome on the shortcut properties, that will DELETE all placed items on the map when loaded. (It won's affect the map files on disk until you save.) That'll usually recover things well enough to begin again.

ok I'll try a few tricks including that one and if i can't get it going I'll mail the bzn and files to you..but the level is so unfinished and frankenstein right now I'd be a little embarrassed to send it out to anyone this way, and I haven't created any original documentation for it yet..theres a good chance u wont know what your looking at :P and it may give u nightmares too the way its landscaped :P ut probably still works o my old pc because It was still functinoin when I last saved it..i think..so I'm hoping its something I dont have installed correctly like maybe I don't have it patched properly for a particular unit present on the map or something. Do you know or remember where to find the original level editing manual/tutorial for bz2? I was almost sure it was part of the original installation files..but not sso sure anymore..im trying to do everything to avoid firing up my crotchety old(er) pc again..limited workspace and I'm also a bit lazy that way.

GSH doesn't judge on that level.
If you think there is a bug, it would be good to send it to GSH so he can see if any engine fixes are needed.

Just to repeat the first post in this thread - logs are what's needed for MP issues. Not videos. I made this a pinned topic for a reason. Just seems that some people with more attitude than literacy seem to think they're exempt. If you want to be useful, rather than a load of hot air, follow my instructions.

For all bugs other than crashes, your goal should be this: make it happen on my machine. Easily and quickly. A video does not do that.

Just an fyi to the griefers. A lot of the bugs you reported could have been looked into had you not griefed. Instead of looking at bugs, gsh spent time on anti-griefer patches.
