Textures and GUI

Post by NoremacSkich »

I would be willing to make higher resolution textures for the units and GUI interface.

I have two problems though, I cannot seem to find a way to get the default textures for the units. Could someone point me in the right direction? (Hopefully it is not blatantly obvious :? )

And does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the GUI adjustable, or am I going to need to make one for each resolution I can think of?

As a side note:
When I am playing, I need to press alt + f6 and alt + f9 in order to get to the assigned groups, pressing those two keys alone will not do anything. Any suggestions for that?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Open the .pak files with PakExplorer (available at bzscrap.org) and have a mooch around in there. Patch13.pak is newer than data.pak.

AHadley forgets Patch13.pak contains only DXT files :P

On the same page you download 1.3 at nathan's site, there should be a "modder data" zip file, download that, any modified textures since 1.2 will be in there. If a texture hasn't been changed in the patch, it's in data.pak.

Thanks for the short response time. That will help me a lot.

But first, a few questions:
1. What is the url for "nathan's site"?
2. Will bz2 support a higher resolution file for each of the units? - All I wish to do is get rid of the graininess of the default textures.
3. Any solutions to my side note that you can think of?
4. If I made one big image for the main menu, will it automatically shrink it to fit the users resolutions?

Also note: all unit skins/images must be power of 2 size, and must be in DXT format as of PB6 +

the DXT converter is also on nathans site.

Go to the BZ2 1.3 PB6.2 release thread to get the link to the downloads page.
