How do i get Tank up a cliff ???

Post by MoonMan2 »

I used to be able to do this with ease when I played 10 years ago, but can't seem to do it now.

On a map like "corner pocket" where the cliffs are very sheer, my opponent managed to do it but wouldn't reveal the secret.

Any nice person out there want to help me?

Practice, skill and the right spot of cliff.
Once you have practiced enough to gain the skill you'll also have learned where to do it and where not.

I also find it helps to dig into a corner in the terrain, and climb up the little crevis.

It looks like the nose of your tank is buried in the terrain when you're all the way into a corner. Best to practice on more inclined cliffs to start with then try the vertical ones.

Well, getting a Walker up is easy. A Tank on the other hand...

It happens to me by random luck. You dont want to hit the bottom of the cliff. It is possible to use a corner of a cliff wall to your advantage, and I actually prefer it.

Thats why I said what I said. You cant properly explain something like this on a forum, like hovering in BZ2 v1.2. We couldnt even teach it to some people while ingame .. cause you need to gain certain skills by practice before you 'feel' what you can and cant do, and that 'can do feel' will increase with more practice as you become more skilled.

[instructions for large forbidding cliffs] get some momentum(but not so much that you'll just ricochet off the cliff wall) pitch down right at leg of the cliff..your vehicle to start to climb..wait for it..then optionally (mostly if your expecting combat at the top of the cliff) start leveling your pitch near the lip of the cliff(make sure you have enough momentum to clear the top of the cliff before doing this) then to make sure you don't fall back down vertically pitch back down again and cut you engine for 1.2 seconds or less ok u can usually just tap it off.this kind of resets your thrust plane to the game engine making it more okay with the idea of your ship escaping that "impossible" vertice point)..then hit the engine again while tentatively leveling out...this should push you onto the new level surface enough to avoid descending back down the same vertice you just came from. Until you get a better feel for your ability level you'll need to eyeball the cliff enroute to get a sense of timing for your pitch maneuvers. With some experience you'll eventually be able to do this backwards and or turn to fight when you reach the top so that your facing the enemy who is probably chasing you up the cliff. I had to answer this old post for any future viewers and because of my forum handle.
hmm mayb you need more...inspiration...
