[Why No Battlezone 3?]

This is so far off topic I'm posting it here.

I think Battlezone 2 tanked so hard because of it's Box Art + Name. As a kid - perusing the shelves of BestBuy or WalMart - I was attracted to box art and pictures of gameplay. When Battlezone 2 was on the shelf, I also saw DEUS EX and STARCRAFT eventually DIABLO II - and even DARK REIGN II, who's box art made buying a game a tough choice. DARK REIGN 1 was the kind of game your best friend lent you after they beat it and you didn't give back, and you were hoping would be dumb enough to buy the next one*. After I bought one of these other games, and began playing it's multiplayer instead if the Battlezone 1 Multiplayer (which I went back to eventually) - I abandoned thought on the next installment, who's demo I played just fine. I just forgot about the game completely until it was almost abandoned altogether.

I think the flurry of the success of these other titles, and the fact they had pop open boxes and interesting box art and even clever sayings, is what led me to buy them in the first place. After selling me on SC1, Brood War was a given - for instance. But now game distribution has evolved to a point where you can't even find a box on the shelf anymore.

Battlezone 2 had a rough opening. And because of that, I think it's suffered a lifetime. This is retrospect from being 14-15, being broke, and blowing my allowance. I think the future of this genre, on the other hand, is promising. Imagine playing a game like this with just your fingertips in front of a holographic screen - when controls become the swiftness of your decisions as a strategy player, first person player, and tank driver.

[Neutrality Announcement]

With the number of petty squabbles going on within the community, I need to announce that I am 100% Neutral. I used to be a big believer in the Battlezone 1 "seed" and "auto updater client" - but some recent realizations have revealed that those may never come to fruition - or by the time that they do, they will not matter. I believe relevancy for 2015 is huge, and everyone in the community needs to step up with a "Share" or "Like". While I understand social media isn't everyone's bag, word of mouth is a powerful tool as well.

I'll be doing further testing - but I'm told the SPOCK version of BZ1 works with the ISO+KENS. So when it comes to actually promoting the game and leading users to the community, they can choose for themselves what is right and wrong - or simply cut corners as we should expect - then we'll solve the server issues later. But really, I think everybody here knows it's just petty inside drama with an imaginary importance applied to it. Let us be honest - Planet Wide - the Battlezone community is like an ant hill, with ants too busy tug-of-warring other dead ants instead of bringing food back to the hill. It's a sad metaphor, but somehow a large number of users revel in it.

I arrived with the Battlezone community at heart, and I intend to leave with the Battlezone community at heart. Bionite: Origins is not Battlezone. I hold no grudges against the battlezone|.org community, nor do I the /originalbz Facebook community - as opposed to a handful of members of each who hold grudges against me. Honestly; I have insiders everywhere, get updates, I know you're hating privately, and it's cool. Check your seals, chill out, keep hating, makes no difference to me. Users don't seem to realize that all scenarios help me, so whatever. Legal or not, it helps the community.

For those of you who are curious, there are currently 6 communities in existence - some users intermix, while others do not.
1 - https://www.facebook.com/groups/battlezone2/
2 - This Website
3 - http://www.battlezone1.org
4 - http://www.bz2maps.us
5 - https://www.facebook.com/groups/originalbz
6 - http://www.battlezoneclub.org

While I understand a couple of these links may look like a "Warning Scenario" on this forum, this is an informative post as opposed to promotional. Although, I do intend to promote everybody in the community regardless if you've banned me or not. The idea is to go find each communities audience and supply it for the longevity of the game - why so few others are investing energy into this act is baffling. There are more sites/resources, but they are non-updated and their communities have abandoned them.

There's a bit of misunderstanding here. "Ken's" implies Ken has a version of BZ - he does not. He is the creator of the 1.5 patch, which is part of Spock's distribution. What you mean is "Spock's distribution is compatible with the original".
