If TRO has no sound then it's probably a driver issue on your system.
Done the former already, this is no longer a DEP issue.

Considered the sound driver problem. I'm going to play a few other games, see if I get the same or similar issues there. If it is, not sure what I can do... poke around with the settings, I guess. I'll let you know if I have any joy.

If you have creative alchemy going it will not work. If you are otherwise dependent on hardware sounds, that will not play correctly either if you are forcing it on.

I've got Xonar gear, which has got issues with games (remember having to juggle settings to get something to work, just don't remember what, when or how).

Discovered Mass Effect 3's announcer has gone AWOL, concluded it's not a BZ issue. Time to mess with the audio control panel.

See if there is instructions on how to do a clean install of the drivers or maybe if your motherboard has on board sound you can enable in the bios.

Mobo has onboard sound, but I previously avoided it because the soundcard was useful for DAW work. I'll try ditching it if driver settings fail.

EDIT: Playing with settings has worked, BZ is back to normal.
