Hi again, still trying to get FE going, have done all of this :-

1: Copy your Battlezone II shortcut, and name the copy Forgotten Enemies, or dingledonglebinglespangle, whatever you want to call it.

2: Right click it, go to Properties.

3: In the "Target" line, at the end after the ", add a space and then: /config FE13.cfg

Default install path should be like this:

"C:\Program Files\Battlezone II\bzone.exe" /config FE13.cfg

Thanks again for the help and info BlackDragon.

However I still can't get the short-cut to open FE. If I double click the short-cut a window opens basically telling my it wont work.

I can right click it and open it if I 'run as administrator' but then it just opens the ordinary version of Battle Zone.

Any Ideas? I think I must be close to getting it going, but don't know where to go from here.

Does it definitely point to your install, not just the example location GBD gave? Also, how did you check it works? FE1.3 still uses the default shell.

Since I last ran it. If it works for you, I'm not sure how my version ended up behaving differently.

/me was launching FEPB3.lnk

OK I seem to have got it working, not had time to test it yet but the extra maps are installed, so I'm hoping it's OK.

I think there was a patch which I hadn't installed, so fingers crossed it'll be OK.

Thanks to everyone that has helped, it's really appreciated!

Well I was wrong, it was the 1.3.6.2 Public Beta patch, which is great because it's given me lots of extra maps and stuff but still only the
Scions and the ISDF.

Wish I could get the FE to work :(

Ah. Make sure you use the right version of BZ2 with the right version of FE. The one on this forum is compatibile only with the patch you just downloaded.

My version of BZ2 is from my disc, would this be compatible and how do I check? Thanks.

You've installed the PB6.2 patch, so you're running 1.3 PB6.2 and should run the version of FE available here.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I'm still struggling to get FE to work, I have followed the instructions below from BlackDragon to the letter and cannot get the program to work :(

General BlackDragon wrote:RD probably forgot to make a shortcut in the installer because he assumes everyone knows how.

Since some people don't, here's what YOU do:

1: Copy your Battlezone II shortcut, and name the copy Forgotten Enemies, or dingledonglebinglespangle, whatever you want to call it.

2: Right click it, go to Properties.

3: In the "Target" line, at the end after the ", add a space and then: /config FE13.cfg

Default install path should be like this:

"C:\Program Files\Battlezone II\bzone.exe" /config FE13.cfg

Point the shortcut from bzone.exe to bz2edit.exe to make an Editor version of FE.

4: Hit apply.

5: Enjoy.
After following all the instructions, when I double click the short-cut I have created I get a blank screen with the Battle Zone mouse pointer, but nothing else.

I have tried re-installing my BZ2 game, also re-installed FE from the link provided by BlackDragon.

My install of BZ2 was successfully updated by the 1.3.2.6 PublicBeta patch and has the additional maps from there, so that link worked fine, just can't understand why the FE one won't work :(

Many thanks to those who have responded and for any help that you can provide.
