Eh, I agree with this sometimes... its an odd choice for a defense model though...

Yeah, I agree, they don't seem Scion to me, but more like an evil idol lying in wait for fresh sacrifices.

Mega Statue: "Hi there!"

ssuser: "Uh, what are you? You don't look look like a Scion."

Mega Statue: "I'm NOT a Scion. I'm a STATUE!"

ssuser: "Oh."

Mega Statue: "Are you a god?"

ssuser: "Uhhh... no."

Mega Statue: "Then... DIIIEEEEE!"

WHAAAAAAMMMMM!

ssuser: "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

Maybe someone could rig up a "Scion Defense Station" and an "ISDF Defense Station" that would incorporate the evils of the statues and be preferentially spawned on maps as to the opposing team using the CMPI_ type spawn.

BTW, tried the parallel Mortar Bike rush, and it killed them all - almost 800 units of scrap lost in 5-10 seconds.

Bouncing the MDM Mortar on to them from just past 300m seems to be the only tried and true. I go with a scout to target the things and place a nav at about 305 meters out, then come back with a tank. It is good to have a mod that lets the armory drop service pods to you as well, aside from needing more ammo for the statue, I am always beset by those *%*$#! Sentrys while I am doing this.

The UEP included versions textured for inclusion on Mire and Rend maps, in keeping with the (canon) presence of statues on Bane, but given how often they appear in ridiculous places they're next to useless anyway.

ssuser, if it's any consolation, i always fail when doing that, too, but Commando came up with the circle-while-hitting-them-with-bikes method of taking them out and is really good at taking them out that way, so, if you ever see him on those maps, follow him. 8-)

also, if you snipe an enemy unit, you can drive right up to the thing with impunity and target them/place a nav on them. remember to have your teammates pass the target back to you so you don't lose the target (learned that from Axeminister).

of course there's always the noob who drives right up to the thing early and sets it off, triggering its minions to harass you. :x

What is it doing in surprise, the Ambush Statue was implemented during the creation of the DropZone map, Surprise already existed. I have not played Surprise in a long time though so maybe it is in there.

These statues do feel very much like something that exclusively belongs on Bane, despite texture changes (I'm pretty sure I have seen the new textures on the UEP maps).

If someone were to do new team type models using mpi spawns, for the ISDF variant a vertically stretched version of one of the ISDF blocky buildings might be a good place to start, like 1/2 of the Tech Center. You could festoon it with various turrets to house its array of death dealing weapons. Not sure what a Scion defense station would look like, their buildings are so odd to begin with.

Two groups of mortar bikes(10 on each) sent from different directions have always worked when attacking the Mega Statues. The rain of mortars destroys the drones when they are launched and the exploding drones damage the statue quickly.

I'm not sure if both statues are the same types, but on surprise you have 2 in the 'big circles' left and right on the map that have an engange range well over 270mtr and send a lot of those tiny craft after you when they engage.
To me it seems those are the same type of statues.

So far in my perambulations thru maps and mods I have seen, I think, 4 statue types.

The first, the regular "Statue" is an easy kill once you spot it and remember to stay back from its 250 meter range.

There are also "Ambush Statues" and "Mini Statues".

The worst of course is the "Mega Statue" which requires some tricky planning if you want time to kill it since you will be bounced by the AI too while you are doing this. It takes some effort. And you definitely have to engage from beyond 300m or they will ruin your day.

the gh statues add health over time, too, so, if you don't get them down the first time...
