UseChromeMesh = false // default is true if not specified.
This will not turn chrome on when it is not showing. Morph tanks look for specific flags in the MSH to see if it should chrome. To cause these flags, have a bone envelope section in your XSI, even if it is empty.

If you only have MSH, let me know and I can try to modify it. I've never tried simply setting the flag, that might be enough.
