Same as people thinking they live in a free country ... makes me laugh

Could mention how people often believe they can control others, untill the other thinks otherwise about it.
The list goes on.

My life sucks because I'm paying 30% of my income to the federal govt, and another 9.5% to the state of California, which wants even MORE to make up for deficits. I make damn good money, but could barely afford to buy a house in the ghetto here. If I did go all in on a decent place, I'd be paying $800/month in property tax.
Solution: I'm incorporating in Nevada and moving to Alaska. California can die in a fire. I'm done.

You're taking that phrase too literally. Obviously no one is going to just be god and will their dead children back to life.
Of course, how you deal with grief would be an example of what you make of your life. Bad things that happen in life and what you make of it are two very different things.

You know California is a nightmare cluster-%#@& when a democratic governor vetoes a budget devised by a democrat majority legislature.
Making 'damn good money' in California is very subjective since you're basically propping up many years of handouts and freebies for those who have found a life of coasting is awesome in California.
But it is all about to end. . .

See the protest riots in Greece yesterday?
Once California runs the gambit of fiscal tricks,
and the fed provides no more handouts,
I believe it will get just as nasty.

I did understand what you meant. My reply was shorter than it should have been.
What I should have added was that you can not control what/when/how/how often/etc bad things happen to you/people near you. You may be a very (mind)strong person but if it keeps stacking up you'll eventually break.
Its that most of us(US/Euro) have a life that has so little grief in it we dont even realise how much grief others may have. We tend to see being content as the normal state of mind, probably because we have a great deal of freedom in our lives.

Great. Can't I at least graduate in a sane world? I won't even make it to college. -__-

I have a feeling I'm not the only one bailing to escape the taxes. The only people left here will be the ones that are bad at math.

Texas blows big donkey balls.
Humans here are retarded,
People are stupid.
And everyone is an asshat.
Oh, wait, nvm that last one. It doesn't only apply to Texas.

If the first two only apply to Texas, then Texas is far larger than it appears on any map.
