The islands sit on top of a massive oil deposit and the Argentinian government wants it. The islands' citizens wish to remain British. Aside from defence of the island, what do you propose?

Well I would propose that should the Argentinian government choose to repeat the same mistake they made last time, then we would be entirely justified in not repeating the mistake we made last time and would be entirely justified in taking their war back to Argentinian soil for them them to enjoy it properly this time round. Obviously we are not up for an invasion, so that only leaves "deterrent" forms of action...

It would be interesting to actually see a war between two developed nations nowadays considerign the last real one was almsot two decades ago. Technology has evolved, and it would interesting to see how tactics evolve.

It would be an entirely different ball game this time round. Last time nobody here really believed they would actually do it, until they did. Now we know that their politicians are quite capable of such stupidity, I very much doubt that it would be so easy to pull off an invasion without us having plenty of warning of it about to happen. Recently secret details of that conflict were released, and we discovered that our good friends and allies in the region were not quite as unwilling to help as we had all been (publicly) led to believe at the time... :) So hopefully the Argies should have taken that on board and will restrict themselves to just bullshiting to their own people about an island they have never owned, and wont want to risk getting into a scrap with the regions major superpower too. :)

If congress can't or won't pass legislation, Obama *Dry heave* should logically take that as a sign that the country doesn't agree and not try to bypass the Legislative branch of the government, useless as they may be. I know it's a cliche at this point but that is precisely what dictators do. Especially since the constitution is, legally at least, still the supreme law of the land and although I know not everyone agrees with me over a particular article in the constitution, the words, "shall not be infringed" are still in there.

On a related note, Wyoming acts to nullify feds on gun control.
