Are you sure that tapped idea will work? Gun Spires don't try to reacquire targets when someone hides under its lung. Granted the lung is the tapped object vs. the gun tower in your proposition.

It does work.
Lungs are not terrain. GTs only retarget if an enemy unit goes behind terrain. They retarget properly every single time.
