i think that, rather increasing in mass, the mass just increases in size and elasticity, making him rather...bouncy. Hence, his ability to jump so high and far and have tank shells bouncing off him.

this topic reminds me of the discussion of swallows in Monty Python. :D

So a seed of vanity had me wondering if my post was spotted. 8-) Then humility kicked in when I realized I didn't post my calculations in such detail.

This all stems from comics and cartoons being translated into film using our 'reality'.

Analysis of the powers of these fictitious figures actually helps children (and some adults) understand the basic concepts and principles of physics, chemistry and scale. And believe me, it's needed. I once worked with an electrical engineer several years ago that believed there was a zero g chamber at the Houston Space Center. I've seen engineers who confused the speed of sound with light speed. People who think shooting stars are generally the size of planets. That going to the planets is roughly the same as going to other star systems. These were adults. And I see the same confusion, all the time, in forums such as this.

Years ago, I would be taken aback and stunned by the huge gaps in understanding in an adult, but once the internet kicked in, I saw it was pervasive throughout society.

Yes, I love to see individuals question the bizarre and fictitious, it helps them learn.

Reality or not, simple books as a medium for entertainment do not get the artists vision across. I've tried it, and I have some very unreal and mystical ideas sometimes, and putting them into literature has always proven to be a failure. Even after I use my best language skills.

I agree, but in terms of learning, some people it just doesn't work with.

i think it is because many people either do not have an imagination or they have very limited imaginations, and why people write plays and then people perform those plays.

that, and people are lazy: they would rather watch a play/movie condensed into an hour or two rather than spend hours to enjoy a good book.

A movie, game, comic, song, or picture can put across ideas and execute them better than any book can.
Of course they can, but they will not stimulate your imagination the way a book can, it is the script and you the movie maker.

The Hulks strength, mass etc are all proportionally dependent on his level of Rage. I can distinctly remember from my childhood one picture of him ripping up a large tower block from its foundations to hurl at an enemy...So any aberrations from the laws of physics are a good measure of that rage.

See Mcdonaldization of Society.[1] It's not the they don't have the imagination, they just don't have the patience.

After aving relatives who used to wrestle mental patients and such, as nurses. Rage and psychotic disorders do tend to make people who are weak actually quite surprisingly strong and dangerous.

Very much so. I know they claim that Bungle was a huge influence...apparently enough to outright just copy the musical composition, style and subject, without contributing anything unique.

If anyone is planning on visiting the UK for this summer, do make sure you take a good book with you on the flight, you will almost certainly need it to keep your RAGE in control once you get to set up camp in immigration...

love listening to "books on tape" when traveling, especially when driving; makes me forget about all those other cars on the road.

I love audio books. I have finally collected a massive collection. Enough for many months of solid listening. The old days of tape were painful, but now with instant location with book marking, it has made ABs unique in information transfer for humans. You can do most anything short of interacting audibly with something or someone. Even though it's used more and more everyday, digital audio for learning is still a major untapped tool.

I also think I may have discovered I have something analogous to Hyperthymesia. I can review a segment of audio material, and tell you EXACTLY what I was doing or where I was on the highway at the time. ;)

you're weird, dude... :? at that rate, you'll be running out of drive space soon. :P

hmm, i wonder if the chances of developing alzheimer's is decreased because of it - or increased. :o

It is odd, but I think mostly it is a simple 'dynamic location stamp' and little else. I cannot recall much detail.

And so far, I feel very little detrimental effect. And so far, I feel very little detrimental effect. And so far, I feel very little detrimental effect.
