Oh, this isn't URI blocking. This is a full-on keyword filter. Depending on how restrictive it is (knowing the government, overly so), the use of one wrong word in an HTML comment could render a page inaccessible.

Of course kids aren't smart enough to search for porn in another language once the obvious English words fail to find anything.

The unfortunate truth is that at a certain age Kids find anything to do with sex extremely interesting. Nothing parents or government can do will alter that, pandering to parental denial will almost certainly get them some votes, but they will not succeed in "protecting" children from their own naturally evolved drives. Nor will they prevent adults from making porn in the first place, all they will succeed in is forcing an evolution in the way people search for things and possibly breaking some normal internet functionality in the process.
A better solution would be for those convinced of the need for this "protection", to set up their own controlled subnets and voluntarily disconnect themselves entirely from the global internet and its various unpleasant Human activities. They could then censor that subnet in anyway they wished to and apply their own rules without inflicting them on everyone else. The fact that this has not already happened (been sold as a package) is probably the best indicator of how interested most people really are in it.

First that, then its protecting the citizens from dissidence, better known as anything against the government. Steepest slippery slope ever.

There really is no need for that here, the "establishment" has already effectively alienated the majority from any real political involvement, politics is now very much a minority interest among the population.
Enough people unthinkingly vote for 1 of 2 parties, however useless their policies actually are, to maintain a stable stalemate in which political careers can be built and fortunes earned at the expense of the Nations success. Its going to take a serious external-internal event to wake the population from its apathy and realise that our Nations vision has been obscured for decades. The last thing the establishment wants is to wake up a complacent population...

Whatever Political "brands" they may claim to support, the unfortunate reality is that they are all (small c) conservatives, in that none of them really want to change anything at all. The lack of real political vision is extremely detrimental to the vitality of the Nation, this is why we have "independence" and "anti*" parties emerging, negative agenda's in response to the stifling lack of future-vision from the incumbents. Politics here is no longer about Us or our Nation, it is only about who gets to win the elections.
Sound familiar?
Just how bad have things got when what teenagers pull their pud over has become a political subject? ffs bring back the cold war!

Should have upgraded your RAM yesterday
I guess I got lucky. I bought two new sticks of RAM a few weeks again for my main rig.

Farewell, v'ger, and good luck
And, it's a shame that in the past 36 years, we haven't even tried to send anything faster/farther away.

Voyager has finally been captured by the Scions, god bless its little heart.
In regards to RAM, I looked at a video which benchmarks performance at various amounts of RAM and it seems that right now 8GB is the sweet spot, noticably outperforming 4GB in graphics rendering, video encoding and framerate in games. But the gain is almost nonexistent at 16GB. That said, I guess the gain of having 8GB on WinXP some years back would have also been negligible. It will only be a matter of time till 16GB will be the sweet zone on Windows 9 or w/e comes out next.
