Any other here on the East Coast worried about Irene? Looks as though it could be a pretty nasty storm and may be an equivilant to perhaps Bob or others.

Alabama here.
Mostly safe where I am when hurricanes hit. We just watch out for when it comes into the gulf.

Never seen one in my life, I doubt I will do anytime soon living in the UK...

North Carolina here. They're saying it's gonna go straight through here.

if I get one drop from this storm, I will be soooo grateful... it's so hot and dry out here, the chickens are laying boiled eggs and eating dryed out grasshoppers...

Nah, I'm betting Raleigh sees maybe an inch or two of rain and a few hours of moderate wind (30-40mph).

hmmmm... first an earthquake and now a hurricane. i think a message is being sent. with any luck, it'll wash all the rats out to sea.

I believe the message is "The Earth has weather."
Earthquakes aren't common on the east coast, but not exactly rare, either.

Current hurricane tracks that end up near New York City aren't exactly good news. NYC has been hit by hurricanes occasionally in the past. It's probably less prepared than New Orleans was. See articles like
this or
this. I certainly hope it doesn't hit NYC, as that would be ... not fun. For anyone.

anything that slaps down east coast liberal darwinists and makes them pray to God to save them makes me happy.
i'm a also a big storm fan, so it'll be fun for me.

Everyone has a theory: some call it God, some call it evolution.
To me "God" was always the religious persons' way of saying "I don't know."

Would be nice if those atheists who dont want a cross at the 9/11 memorial were found huddled together praying. I think a lot of poelpe here need a slap in the face when it comes to weather besides the strange fluffy stuff that falls from the sky on cold days. Also, given that the emperor is on Martha's Vineyard now, I think Mother Earth is trying to show him just how much she "appreciates" his work.

Have to keep in mind that the "no cross at Ground Zero" campaign was from one guy who does not represent atheists everywhere.
Since people from all walks of life died in 9/11, why not have symbols from all faiths?
Kind of doubt that would ever happen.
