I play both, but prefer League. League is faster paced, while DotA is much more team-oriented imo. The map is also bigger in DotA, so it takes longer for anything to happen. Then again, the teamfights are quick and bloody.

Apparently DotA's community is crazy competitive though.

It is. Most games are overrated, imo. Including the latest COD ones. Nothing revolutionary about them. Just the same stuff, but prettier.
