Re: Realistic maps with 2K textures and sky sprites
The original pscharon.tga looked similarly out of place (though of lower resolution) and I think it's because of the modulation. It makes the picture stand out over the atmospheric fog, while ADD allows it to look more natural, but stars also shine through. There IS something I'm going to try to hav...

Re: Realistic maps with 2K textures and sky sprites
Thanks, I looked forward to Charon-it. 4096x4096 should be possible then... maybe I need to let it run longer? Or maybe I have an old version. Another thing I've been wondering about is having textures that are shiny. Battlezone 98 Redux gives Europa ice a reflective shine to it, which I thought was...

Re: Realistic maps with 2K textures and sky sprites
I wonder if 4K textures are possible. I think I tried making a dxtbz2 of a 4K image but it never finished. But 2K textures look pretty darn good! Does anyone else use 2K terrain textures? I have a rather basic set - many of the textures I can't use for space since there are tiny organic things like ...

Realistic maps with 2K textures and sky sprites
Now that I can get a screenshot taken (didn't think of Fraps, but that works well enough for me!) I can share what I've been working on lately. While this is a very basic scene, just some mountains on Mercury with the sun shining brightly in the sky, I figured it was appropriate to post this today s...

Taking screenshots with Windows 10...
This may be a noob question (or rather an oldhead who hasn't been around in a while question) but I tried taking a screenshot of a map I'm working on. Using Print Screen produced an all black image. Of course, to find a resolution to the problem, I searched this forum. All of the recommendations wer...

Re: Editor update for 1.3?
Lizard's update to the editor used to work with 1.3, at least that I can remember - but I had to add the FE .pak files to my cfg file. Maybe I did it wrong? But I'm more interested in vanilla objects, but just having a menu of all of them - not just some of them. As it stands right now, it has the b...

Editor update for 1.3?
So, 13 years ago Lizard put out a mod for the editor that among other things had menu access to every stock BZ2 object. All of the buildings, plants, terrain, power ups and so on were included. It also included a more or less complete list of objects from Forgotten Enemies. It does not work with 1.3...

Re: Forgotten Enemies for 1.3.6.5 BETA
I've returned because true Battlezone players always return... but the opening post had a "Known Issue" that concerns me. Is the 5 seconds into the first Mercury mission bug still a thing? I never came across it (just updated to 1.3.7.1) but that seems like it would make it almost impossib...

Re: Battlezone II Remodeled 1.0.6 available now! 4/19/16
Wow... just... wow... I come back to find Battlezone II is going strong - especially with BZ 98 Redux being released. I was wondering if an HD remaster of BZII was in the works but I didn't have to look far. A few tiny tiny tiny things that are just my remarks... 1. On the first campaign level, the ...

Re: A curious graphical error
I have noticed another bug where the HUD in the regular single player games would look like it was set to 640x480, the ammo being tucked to the middle of the screen. I can fix it by using alt+enter, then alt+enter again to return to fullscreen mode. Curiously after doing this, text in most windows a...

Re: A curious graphical error
Not easy, but not impossible. Although I have been I graduated from college this past December with a major in computer science, so if I ask so many questions it's because I'm eager to continue learning about the subjects of game programming. Battlezone II is one of my favorite games of all time and...

Re: A curious graphical error
Could the error with reflections being turned on causing all meshes except terrain to not render be related to SLI? I do have two 8800 GTX GPUs. Or doesn't SLI matter for BZ2? I was asking about the DirectX version that BZ2 originally used out of curiosity. I'm not saying bring the old code back (al...

Re: A curious graphical error
It works somewhat if Reflections are turned off... but sometimes the tops of the trees will pop in and out.
And the graphical error occurs with all vegetation, sometimes objects farther away are rendered in front of closer objects.
What DirectX did the original BZ2 use?

Re: A curious graphical error
I tried the save, get same result - everything above water isn't rendered. Sky detail = High Lights = All Terrain = High Local Fog = 100% Weather = On Reflections = On EMBM Bumpmaps = On Anisotropic Filtering = 8 Props = High Shadows = Low Particles = High Objects = High Targeted Object Background D...
